Every parent thinks their child could be a model—and honestly, usually they are right! Whether your goal is a catalog shoot, a TV commercial, or simply capturing a moment in time, a professional portfolio is the first step. For over 18 years, I have been creating children's model portfolios in Boston that help new talent get noticed by top agencies.
How to Get Your Child into Modeling & Acting
To begin a modeling career, the first step is to create a strong portfolio. For acting, you'll need two types of professional headshots: one commercial (smiling) and one theatrical (serious). For modeling, agencies need to see full-length body shots showing different outfits and movement.
Once you have these materials, you are ready to submit to agencies. Most agents now have online portals to use to upload and submit an application to be considered. We don't just take photos; we guide you through this process to help you understand what images will actually get your child noticed by Boston and NY agencies.

The Difference

A Fun, No-Pressure Environment
My very first client 18 years ago was a 5-year-old. Back then, I learned the most important secret to photographing kids: Make it fun. I treat every child like a little adult but keep the energy high and playful. When a child is laughing and comfortable, we get those genuine, sparkling eyes that agents love. Plus, if we are lucky, my dog Millie might make a cameo appearance to keep things entertaining!
When to Update the Portfolio?
Kids grow fast. A portfolio is only useful if it looks like your child today.
- The Golden Rule: Update every 12 months.
- Exceptions: Update sooner if they have a growth spurt, lose teeth, get braces, or change their hairstyle significantly. If a casting director expects the child in the photo but meets a child who looks two years older, you likely won't book the job. Keep it current!
Planning Your Child's Session

Wardrobe: Simple is best. Avoid logos, busy patterns, or neon colors. Solid jewel tones (blues, greens, purples) work beautifully. The focus must be on their eyes, not their outfit.

The Environment: My approach is high-energy and fun. We play music and keep the mood light so we can capture genuine smiles, not forced expressions.

SESSION ADD-ONS
Classic Retouching $45 per image (Skin clean up, fly away hairs, whitening of teeth, eye enhancement)
Extensive Retouching $65 per image (Anything that is not listed on the classic option)
Digitals: $75 Add to any modeling package (These are not available separately).
Make-up/Hair
Rates range from $250-$350 on all packages except All Half Day Packages or Full Day, which have special rates.
Rush option
$150 Available on select packages. 2 business days. Standard image return is 7-10 days.
